Using this site
This website is general information about Unfuck Your Taxes and the problems we help with. Browsing it, emailing us, or reading an article does not create a client relationship, an engagement, or any obligation on either side. An engagement begins only once we agree in writing on the scope of work.
Not legal, tax, or financial advice
Nothing on this site — including the "Straight Answers" articles — is legal, tax, or financial advice for your specific situation. Tax rules and deadlines are fact-specific. Use this site to get oriented, then get advice that accounts for your full circumstances before you act.
No guaranteed outcomes
We do not promise or guarantee a specific result, savings amount, settlement, penalty reduction, or timeline. Any outcome depends on the facts of your case, the taxing authority involved, and factors outside our control. Anyone who guarantees a specific tax result before reviewing your full record should be treated with caution.
Not affiliated with the IRS
Unfuck Your Taxes is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the Internal Revenue Service or any other government agency.
Who does the work
Preparation and cleanup work is handled by trained staff. Matters that require representation before the IRS or a state taxing authority — such as negotiating collections, appeals, or an offer in compromise — are handled or supervised by a licensed Enrolled Agent or CPA holding representation rights before the IRS. You will know who is doing that work before it begins. Unfuck Your Taxes is not a law firm, does not provide legal representation or legal advice, and does not represent clients in United States Tax Court.
Fees and engagement
Nothing on this site is a fee quote. Fees depend on the scope of the work and are agreed to in writing, in a separate engagement letter, before billable work starts. A free initial conversation does not itself create an engagement.
No unauthorized reliance
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information and records you provide. We are not responsible for outcomes that result from incomplete, inaccurate, or withheld information.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Unfuck Your Taxes is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this website. This section does not limit liability that cannot be limited by law, and it does not apply to a separately signed engagement letter, which governs the work we actually perform for you.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the site and services change. The version posted here is the one in effect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
